Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of LeeLaa. By signing up, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. Plain-English summary at the bottom — full terms above.

1. Who can use LeeLaa

You must be at least 18 years old to create a LeeLaa account. The service is designed for parents and guardians to use on behalf of K–12 children in their care. Children do not create accounts; they sign in under a parent-supervised PIN or scan a parent-generated QR code on the iPad.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your Auth0 sign-in credentials safe and for any activity that happens under your account. If you become aware of unauthorized access, email us immediately at leelaa@sciencephalon.com so we can lock the session.

3. Acceptable use

Don't use LeeLaa to:

Misrepresent your relationship to a child you create a profile for.
Attempt to extract another tenant's data, reverse-engineer the BKT engine, or bypass per-tenant access controls.
Upload content you do not have the right to upload (third-party assessment reports for students who are not yours).
Probe, scan, or attack the service. Security research is welcome — email us first and we will give you a scoped test account.

4. The content the AI generates

LeeLaa uses commercial LLMs (DeepSeek, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) to generate questions, diagnose answers, and produce explanations. These are statistical models; occasionally they produce a question with a wrong answer or an explanation with a small factual error. We have a Report this question button on every item; reports are reviewed and used to improve the prompt library. We do not guarantee any educational outcome from using the service, and LeeLaa is not a substitute for a teacher, tutor, or formal schooling.

5. Subscription and billing

During the v1 family-pilot phase, LeeLaa is free for invited families. When billing turns on, the parent dashboard's Settings page will display the current plan and price. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled; cancel from Settings or by email at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. Refunds are issued at our discretion for unused time within 14 days of charge.

6. Cancellation and termination

You can cancel and request full data deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for material violation of these terms (most often: misuse of someone else's data), with at least 30 days' notice unless the violation is severe (illegal activity, security attack).

7. Intellectual property

LeeLaa's name, brand, source code, prompt library, skill graph, mapping registry, and pedagogy are owned by LeeLaa Inc. and SciEncephalon AI. The content your child generates (their answers, written work, scratch-pad drawings) belongs to you and your child; we have a limited license to use it solely to operate the service for you.

8. Disclaimers

LeeLaa is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it accurate, available, and safe, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, freedom from bugs, or specific learning outcomes. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LeeLaa Inc.'s aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration in New Jersey under the AAA's Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may pursue claims in small-claims court if eligible. You and we both waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.

11. Changes to these terms

Material changes (anything that materially reduces your rights or changes pricing) will be emailed to every active account at least 30 days before they take effect, with a clear summary of what changed. Continued use of LeeLaa after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Plain English. You pay us (eventually). You don't try to break the system or read other people's data. We don't promise perfection but we try hard. AI sometimes makes mistakes — let us know. You can leave any time and we'll delete everything. If we disagree about something, we'll work it out in New Jersey.
